To me, materials are always central to the design process, and a curiosity about the expression or qualities of a particular material is often the backbone of my projects. I have worked with a series of experiments to explore different expressions of metal. Different methods and combinations of catalysts led to new expressions and interesting surfaces.
How fixed are the relation between material and shape? With a curiosity on the materials features and the possibilities within it, this experiment challenge how we understand the shape and aesthetics of metal. Using a strong magnet, a mixture of metal granulate and PU glue is transformed into unique sculptures with an non-controlled expression. A material we would characterize as solid and heavy gets a completely different expression.
